Reuben Trotter - Race Report
I flew out on Friday with my race being on Saturday morning. This gave me time to look around the course and build my bike in time for my race. The course was very technical with a 1.2km loop used for both the bike and run. I was racing on the same course as the Elites who raced in the afternoon. Receiving super league race suits gave me a real buzz for the race. The race format was 300m swim 3.6km bike and 2.4km run with a 5 minuet rest before doing it all over again. This tested both our speed and endurance.
My race didn’t start quite according to plan being beaten up at the first buoy and coming out the swim I knew I had work to do. I set about this on the bike making up a few places using my bike technique to my strength, round all the corners but lost a few with an average run. I finished the first race in 12 which I was slightly disappointed but I had to keep my head high as I was only half way.
